It's time to check in again with our favorite French professional basketball player, Steeve Ho You Fat. Saturday night, Ho You Fat's Cholet Basket took on Le Mans, who's roster does not feature a strapping Steve McQueen that your mother undoubtedly rubbed one out to but does feature a former Beaver (close enough, right? Not really.). Philip Ricci, a former Oregon State Beaver, put up 13 points in Le Mans' 70-59 victory over Cholet.
Cholet refused to turn to their 19 year old forward for help in Saturday's loss. Unfortunately,
Ho You Fat has not played a single minute this season. I say unfortunately, because his lack of minutes is not only hurting Cholet who seem to be in need of the edge a Fat Ho could provide but it also makes it impossible for us to start a Ho You Fat All-Star campaign.
The LNB, like its American counterpart - the NBA, believes the fans should have the power to pick who suits up in its All-Star game...but not enough power to write in votes. The ballot only includes seven French natives per team and sadly Ho You Fat is not one of them. This could be a result of Ho You Fat's lack of minutes (if my Google translator is correct, players must average 15 minutes per game to make the team) or this could be the French continuing to try to keep the Fat down. Let them eat cake!
Since we can't vote Ho You Fat onto the team, let's turn our efforts to getting his teammate, who 100% Percent Injury Rate discovered was playing alongside Ho You Fat, Kevin Pittsnogle in that All-Star game. The LNB All-Star Game pits the best French native players against the best foreigners or what they call "Estrangers". While Pittsnogle may not be the best foreigner, he seems to be riding the pine alongside Ho You Fat, he definitely is "Estranger" than any of the other players on that ballot, even you Shanta Rogers.
Let's hit the ballot hard and get Pittsnogle on that All-Star team! (Even if he isn't playing the minimum required minutes to make the team) Pittsnogle in '07!
Update: I have just learned that Pittsnogle is on the training camp roster for the NBDL's Austin Toros (who are coached by Quin Early). This might be an obstacle for our campaign, but so was Marion Barry's addiction to crack cocaine an obstacle for his campaign and that didn't stop him from winning.
